Nothing to see here, I guess, as far as the Kohberger case is concerned. If the MyHeritage users don’t care (EDIT: and don't show they care by deleting their DNA profiles from MyHeritage), I guess I don’t care either. Though I do think there should be strong guide rails for LE DNA investigation, mostly for future manipulations, yet to be known. Any case worth using IGG for, is worth a judged-signed warrant.

And if they do care, then MyHeritage can simply begin requiring their own test files for upload instead of allowing the files from other companies. That would solve this entire issue in one fell swoop.

Regardless of the ethics, Kohberger wouldn't have standing here in court, which some people don't seem to understand.

I think this is the direction that things are heading. I transcribed the oral arguments in a Minnesota Supreme Court case about this; I'll try to finish that post soon and push it out.
